At IY Apparel, we are passionate about making beautiful products. However, our business is not all about production and profit. The IY story evolved from a desire to create a brand that represents more than just products. It began with people and purpose in mind; and the creation of products that carry a message of hope. Ultimately, our significance is not measured by our products or performance, but by the generosity of our lives.
IY Apparel was launched in 2017 with a mandate to create sustainable income for Ingane Yami Children’s Village. We donate 5% of the value of every sale to the Village. Our dream is to keep increasing this impact as our business grows. We believe in the principle of promoting fair trade and empowering people. We love the idea that we can be part of a movement that believes in a ‘trade over aid’ solution for our communities.
Ingane Yami is a Children’s Village located in Shongweni, Durban. It was established in 2010 in response to the orphan crisis in KZN, South Africa. It exists today as a vibrant community where children’s stories are being rewritten, from stories of hopelessness and despair to ones of love, belonging and a bright future.
